Welcome to the world, Nico!
Somewhere over the rainbow cake
August 29th, 2010Sometimes, the internet can be a dangerous thing for me.
You see, I was reading this wonderful post by Martha Points who got the idea from The Whisk Kid, and I just had to give it a shot.
The rainbow cake, that is. Not for the faint of heart.
A smooth white exterior of swiss meringue buttercream conceals…
Six layers of brilliant rainbow colors.
Beautiful, festive and delicious!
Make your own and tell me all about it!
Say it with cupcakes
August 26th, 2010Really. Is there any other way?
While I was out of town, our oldest pug, Oscar, had to undergo emergency surgery. For eating a needle and thread.
I have no idea how it happened.
Our vet and his team saved his life. Despite his age and the fact that it was a needle that had, indeed, left a small puncture in his stomach, Oscar is home and recovering well.
However, I wanted to send a special gift of appreciation to the office, just so they know how awesome we think they all are.
Just a couple of black & fawn pug cupcakes with a little note…
Not traditional.
But the sweetest way we knew how to say it.
Gators by request
August 10th, 2010If you know anything about me, you know that I would only make a Gators cake if it really meant something to someone else.
Because I’m all about the Hurricanes, baby.
But my friend wanted something special for her husband’s birthday party. And he’s a Gators fan. So I created this football field cake with a fondant Gators logo for the event.
Two layers of devil’s food cake with a white chocolate filling, covered in smooth vanilla buttercream.
Chomp.
Happy birthday!
Star Spangled Cake
July 4th, 2010A patriotic dessert for a special celebration.
This cake was carved in the shape of the United States out of two layers of vanilla cake, one red and one blue. It was frosted in vanilla buttercream and decorated with patriotic slogans.
Chocolate cupcakes designed to complement the cake.
Hole in One for Father’s Day.
June 22nd, 2010I made this adorable golf course cake for my father-in-law for Father’s Day.
It’s a vanilla cake, flavored with a hint of Bailey’s Irish Cream and filled with chocolate.
And the rest? Well, I think it speaks for itself. Everything is edible except the flag and pole.
Happy Father’s Day!
