We’ve got spirit, yes we do!

Holiday Gifts for CoWorkers

December 18th, 2009

Nothing cheers up an office environment around the holidays like some delicious, fresh-baked treats.

I was called upon to make some desserts for an office prior to holiday break.

Sweet and chewy coconut macaroons, gift-boxes and tucked into red tissue paper.

And red velvet cupcake, topped with swirls of heavenly cream cheese frosting.

There’s no better way to head into the winter break than with treats like these! Enjoy!

Classic Gingerbread Cookies

December 12th, 2009

Nothing signals the arrival of winter quite like the aroma of warm gingerbread. And there is no better vehicle for gingerbread than the classic little gingerbread man.

Aren’t they sweet?

071

Soft and chewy with just a hint of spice and touch of sweet vanilla frosting … These little guys (and gals) are sure to please!

A Shower for Baby F

December 12th, 2009

I was so delighted to be invited to our dear friend K’s baby shower. She and her husband D will be expecting Baby F in just a few short months, and we are over the moon for them.

I was also thrilled to be called upon to make her shower cake. Two tiers, one chocolate, one vanilla, studded with butterdream polka dots and a replica of the fishies from Baby F’s super adorable bedding.

Congratulations, again, to two wonderful friends!

Fall Treats

December 12th, 2009

Holidays are busy busy times.

Busy making lots of delicious and delectable treats!

My apologies for not posting these sooner, but check out this platter of delicious butter spritz cookies and Russian teacakes. They are absolutely melt-in-your-mouth good. Dusted with powdered sugar or tipped with chocolate frosting and sprinkles or crushed walnuts, they are the perfect addition to your dessert display.

I also did some experimenting and made this cranberry sugar pie. A combination of cranberries, pears, lemon, cinnamon and sugar in a buttery, flaky crust… Topped with a dollop of fresh whipped cream, it was one of the best pies ever.

Baby Shower Onesie Cookies

November 10th, 2009

Could these be any cuter? Or more delicious?

My friend K’s cousin contacted me about supplying some onesie cookies for K’s family baby shower. I was more than happy to help out.

The cookies were in the shape of baby onesies, in blue and green with “BBF” for Baby Boy F written on them.

Hope you had a wonderful time, K! We’re so happy for you!

27th Heaven

November 6th, 2009

On November 4, 2009 the NY Yankees won their 27th World Series, in Game 6 at home against the Phillies.

My husband and I are long-time Yankees fans, and were also celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary. What a night!

Today, at 11am, the city of NY is hosting a ticker tape parade for the Champions. I couldn’t resist the chance to bake a little something to help celebrate.

Cutout cookies in the shape of jerseys, honoring team captain Derek Jeter, and WS MVP Hideki Matsui. They are almost too cute to eat.

Almost.

I also experimented with some new techniques this time, for a more precise cutout shape, and a new icing, which is just as good as my old one, and a little easier to use. Thumbs up for new techniques.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE YANKEES!

Happy Halloween!

November 6th, 2009

Around the holidays, I always fall a little behind in my uploading.

However, I wanted to share these adorable Halloween cupcakes. Orange colored chocolate chip cake frosted like jack-o-lanterns, or with vanilla and chocolate, edged in spooky non-pareils.

008

Check out the cute pumpkin cupcake papers. The perfect touch. These were a huge hit!

Happy First Birthday to C!

October 24th, 2009

I really love making sweets for friends, and so I was more than delighted that B & M asked me to create a smash cake for their son’s first birthday party.

They had a nautical theme, and B requested the colors of light blue and red, with stripes. I found some inspiration pictures and put together this 8″ round of chocolate and vanilla layers with buttercream and fondant.

003

On display at the party, complete with anchor, another special request.

070

C, the birthday boy, loved it! Happy first birthday, buddy!

Jack’s 1st Birthday!

September 27th, 2009

Happy birthday, Jack!

Jack’s Mommy and Daddy wanted  a very special Surf Monkey birthday party for his special day. They asked me to do a surfboard vanilla cake in yellow and blue for Jack’s smash cake and I was happy to oblige.

062

It made a huge splash with Jack. He was more than happy to dig right in. :)

101

Mom & Dad also ordered some banana rum cupcakes with buttercream frosting to celebrate the actual birthday (tomorrow). I jazzed them up with yellow frosting swirls and a blue fondant dot, in keeping with the party theme.

010

We hope Jack had a fantastic day!
