Welcome to the world, Nico!

Monday, June 21st, 2010

On April 11, our dear friends, L&T, welcomed their little baby boy. Nico was rather impatient and made his grand entrance quite ahead of schedule, but he’s a champ and the whole family is doing so well.

We sent out these cookies to celebrate his debut.

Congratulations, L & T. You’re awesome parents. We hope you enjoy (both Nico AND the cookies). Lots of love!

Happy Father’s Day!

I had some extra cookie dough, so I made a selection of fun shapes for a special dad.

Of course, with a Miami twist :)

Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads out there!

Happy Father’s Day!

Friday, June 18th, 2010

What better way to celebrate than with this adorable dessert?

Because everyone loves cake.

Designed with a Miami Hurricanes fan in mind, this cake resembles a mint green dress shirt with white collar and french cuffs, a split U cufflink and orange, green and white flowered tie.

The cake itself is chocolate-coconut flavored and filled with shredded coconut and vanilla buttercream for a Mounds bar effect. Mmmm.

There is also a custom “i <3 dad” label detail inside the collar.

Happy Father’s Day!

A Beautiful Wedding

Monday, June 7th, 2010

This weekend, I provided a cutting cake and mini cupcakes for a gorgeous wedding at the Garden Club.

The room was absolutely fantastic – deep purple orchids and candles, and gorgeous accents in orange and teal and green, all based around the vivid hues of peacocks.

Breathtaking.

Over 150 mini cupcakes in vanilla, chocolate and banana rum surround the cake stand.

The lights from the candles in the background.

The tail of the cake topper is absolutely beautiful.

One more close up.

Congratulations to M and her new husband! Wishing you both every happiness!

BBQ Beach Bash Cake

Monday, May 31st, 2010

We celebrated Memorial Day with some great friends, and I was in charge of dessert.

My favorite thing to be in charge of, really.

I decided to play around with a beach theme, and created a delicious peach brandy cake with vanilla custard and fresh blueberry filling.

And then the fun began. Check out these sweet teddy grahams sunbathers and swimmers.

We have some itty bitty divers in itty bitty wetsuits…

Just splashing around…

And don’t forget Speedo Bear. He’s my favorite.

A yummy way to celebrate.

And probably one of my favorites to make.

A Birthday Carnival

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

Part of the fun of baking is getting to make the cakes for family birthdays.

It’s even more exciting when it’s for our son.

A’s second birthday was a carnival theme, complete with balloons, games and mini corn dogs.

I made a little 6″ carnival tent cake.

And lots and lots of cute vanilla and chocolate cupcakes to share.

Oh, and don’t forget a bunch of “2″ frosted cookies. My personal favorite!

Happy birthday to our little man! He had a wonderful day!

Valentine’s Day Candy Box Cake

For your sweetheart.

A delicious dark chocolate cake in the shape of a candy box. Everything is edible (except the cupcake papers)

Complete with mini-cupcakes made to look like truffles & chocolates.

Roses not included.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Holiday Gifts for CoWorkers

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Nothing cheers up an office environment around the holidays like some delicious, fresh-baked treats.

I was called upon to make some desserts for an office prior to holiday break.

Sweet and chewy coconut macaroons, gift-boxes and tucked into red tissue paper.

And red velvet cupcake, topped with swirls of heavenly cream cheese frosting.

There’s no better way to head into the winter break than with treats like these! Enjoy!

Classic Gingerbread Cookies

Saturday, December 12th, 2009

Nothing signals the arrival of winter quite like the aroma of warm gingerbread. And there is no better vehicle for gingerbread than the classic little gingerbread man.

Aren’t they sweet?

071

Soft and chewy with just a hint of spice and touch of sweet vanilla frosting … These little guys (and gals) are sure to please!

A Shower for Baby F

Saturday, December 12th, 2009

I was so delighted to be invited to our dear friend K’s baby shower. She and her husband D will be expecting Baby F in just a few short months, and we are over the moon for them.

I was also thrilled to be called upon to make her shower cake. Two tiers, one chocolate, one vanilla, studded with butterdream polka dots and a replica of the fishies from Baby F’s super adorable bedding.

Congratulations, again, to two wonderful friends!
