And the Oscar Goes To…

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Sunday night was Oscar night.

And what better way to celebrate the shining stars and fabulous wins, than with an Oscar-inspired cake?

Two round layers of chocolate chocolate chip, filled with buttercream and tart raspberry jam, decorated with a fondant red carpet and dais, shining gold stars, and a fondant Oscar statuette.

The cake was surrounded by these sweet Academy Award statue cookies, standing upright and bright with luster dust. The real ones certainly don’t taste as good, I’m sure.

And of  course, cookie favors, in honor of a pug named Oscar. Everyone could take home their very own “award” to commemorate the evening.

Congratulations to the winners!

Girls’ Night In

Sunday, January 23rd, 2011

This weekend, I had the pleasure of getting together with some wonderful friends for a mommy slumber party. True story.

Nine moms, from as far away as six hours, met up to spend the night laughing and chatting and recharging.

There was some eating going on, too.

I thought it would be cute to bring some martini themed cookies – green apple with a heart shaped cherry, to be exact.

I brushed the little cherries with lustre dust, for a bit of extra sparkle. Everyone needs sparkle.

I also brought a cake. Hot pink with zebra stripes and all the little sleepover necessities: sleeping bag, laptop, popcorn, swiss rolls and a fondant box o’ wine.

One vanilla and one chocolate layer, with raspberry and buttercream filling. A super sweet treat for an incredible group of friends.

Paint Your Own

Monday, January 10th, 2011

This past weekend, a friend hosted a birthday party for her child at a local paint-your-own pottery store.

It was a brilliant idea and all the little kids had so much fun. Including my own.

She asked if I could help her out with favors – she wanted little cookies in the shape of paint palettes, customized for each little guest. I wasn’t able to find a good cutter for the job, so I opted to hand cut these babies instead.

And then tied them up with little bows.

It was a fabulous party for a fabulous little girl! Thanks so much for having us!

Sugar & Spice

Monday, November 15th, 2010

These cookies were an adorable complement to the dessert table at a wonderful baby shower I attended this week.

The theme was Sugar & Spice, and the colors were pink & brown.

Congratulations to Mommy- and Daddy-to-be!

Babies, babies, everywhere

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

Two of our dear friends had bouncing baby boys quite recently. What better way to send our congratulations, than with cookies?

Cookies are just festive.

For little Scott Jr, whose gender was a surprise and who has a nursery decorated all in turtles.

And for Chase, a set of boy-themed onesies.

Congratulations to the new mommies and daddies! Enjoy your new little bundles of joy.

And the cookies :)

Happy Birthday Cookies

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Fun and festive, these cookies were the perfect way to wish a happy birthday to Turtle’s grandparents.

Soft and delicious, with just a hint of lemon in the icing.

Girls’ Night In Desserts

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

These themed cookies and cupcakes were the perfect addition to a very fun girls’ only party.

Vanilla cupcakes dipped in a chocolate ganache and accented with a royal icing heart.

And soft cookies in the shapes of hearts and high heels, with almond flavored icing and pearlized pareil accents.

Delicious with a dessert wine and good friends.

Bridal Shower Favors

White on white wedding cake cookies, individually wrapped and tied with violet ribbon.

Welcome to the world, Nico!

Monday, June 21st, 2010

On April 11, our dear friends, L&T, welcomed their little baby boy. Nico was rather impatient and made his grand entrance quite ahead of schedule, but he’s a champ and the whole family is doing so well.

We sent out these cookies to celebrate his debut.

Congratulations, L & T. You’re awesome parents. We hope you enjoy (both Nico AND the cookies). Lots of love!

#1 Dad

Happy Father’s Day!

I had some extra cookie dough, so I made a selection of fun shapes for a special dad.

Of course, with a Miami twist :)

Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads out there!
