Happy Birthday, Olivia!
Monday, February 28th, 2011This birthday cake was probably one of my favorites to make – it was for a very special little girl.
Two layers (vanilla and chocolate), covered in buttercream and a full size Olivia cut from fondant, all ready for the party.
She is surrounded by polka dots, stripes and she even has the sweetest fondant bows on her ears.
And of course, the first birthday smash cake, in matching colors and accents.
Happy birthday!

Monday, February 28th, 2011Van’s first birthday fell on a momentous weekend: the Daytona 500.
Not only is that one of the premier Nascar races, but Van was born exactly 8 years after his parents met at that very race.
It’s not surprising that his first birthday theme was the checkered flag.
I put together this towering red velvet cake, with buttercream and black fondant checkers. So cool.

Of course, the vanilla smash cake matched…
And there were some cupcakes with red papers and black fondant stars atop swirls of buttercream.
We hope this first birthday party was special for Van and his family!
This little ladybug
Sunday, November 7th, 2010I love themed parties, and I was so excited to make the cake for little Chloe’s very first birthday party.
In a ladybug theme of course.
There was a big cake.
And a smash cake.
And they couldn’t be cuter.
Happy birthday!
Happy First Birthday to C!
Saturday, October 24th, 2009I really love making sweets for friends, and so I was more than delighted that B & M asked me to create a smash cake for their son’s first birthday party.
They had a nautical theme, and B requested the colors of light blue and red, with stripes. I found some inspiration pictures and put together this 8″ round of chocolate and vanilla layers with buttercream and fondant.

On display at the party, complete with anchor, another special request.

C, the birthday boy, loved it! Happy first birthday, buddy!
Jack’s 1st Birthday!
Sunday, September 27th, 2009Happy birthday, Jack!
Jack’s Mommy and Daddy wanted a very special Surf Monkey birthday party for his special day. They asked me to do a surfboard vanilla cake in yellow and blue for Jack’s smash cake and I was happy to oblige.

It made a huge splash with Jack. He was more than happy to dig right in.

Mom & Dad also ordered some banana rum cupcakes with buttercream frosting to celebrate the actual birthday (tomorrow). I jazzed them up with yellow frosting swirls and a blue fondant dot, in keeping with the party theme.

We hope Jack had a fantastic day!
